Less than a year from graduation...

I am less than eight months from graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Food & Nutrition from the University of Cincinnati. Whoa. I am supposed to enter the workforce and/or figure out my career path in less than 8 months. Again, whoa. My third year at UC was filled with ups and downs, but what seemed like the most challenging year on record does not compare to the stress I feel everyday about graduating.  No one tells you how many internal battles you will have with yourself about your success in college.  Have I achieved the “right” kind of success? Am I in the right place to go forward? Will I get a job? Will I get into graduate school? Am I supposed to be enjoying this time?

These are just a few of the questions I ask myself each day.  As I move forward through the next few months, I try to keep my focus on the big picture about public health nutrition and my role in improving nutrition for all.  When I become overwhelmed with student group responsibilities, I think about my ability to be a role model and the importance of serving others.  Overall, I take each day step by step but I always put each day towards the big picture: helping others.
